EPPA / DEKRA webinar series on the EU’s new Chemical Strategy for Sustainability – Part III

On October 14th 2020, the EU Commission presented its new Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS), which was developed as part of the EU Green Deal. This sustainability strategy comprises a whole series of measures that are to be implemented in EU chemicals law.

The impact on manufacturers and users of chemicals and chemical products will be significant. DEKRA and its long-term partner EPPA are evaluating the approaches and activities that are part of the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS) in a webinar series since the beginning of 2021.

EPPA and DEKRA are glad to invite you to the part III of their webinar series on the EU’s new Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability. In this new series, we are now taking a detailed look at specific elements of the CSS, how the EU Commission is planning to implement them and provide practical advice to the participants.

Webinar #6 - Microplastics Restriction Proposal

on 4 October 2022, 15.00 - 16.00 CEST

The microplastic restriction draft has been published on 30.08.2022. It is the first case of far-reaching “catch all” restriction covering a very large group of substances used in various applications, ranging from cosmetics to infill material for artificial sport pitches. We will introduce and analyse the Commission proposal and provide practical advice regarding the interpretation of the definitions, the scope, labeling and reporting requirements, etc. We will also explain the timeline and the next steps in the regulatory procedure.

The aim of the session is to two-fold: First, we aim to provide an overview of the developments around the Safety and Sustainability by Design (SSbD) criteria being developed by the Commission in the context of the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS). Second, we will provide a full overview of the Commission’s proposal for a Sustainable Products Initiative and the potential impacts on the different targeted industries.

Webinar #4 - EU Textiles Strategy

The European Commission new communication outlines a new set of legislative and not legislative actions towards a more sustainable textile industry. The strategy’s objective is to help the textile industry to recover from the Covid-19 crisis in a sustainable way by making it more competitive, applying circular economy principles to production, products, consumption, waste management and secondary raw material and directing investment, research and innovation. In the webinar the different elements of the new communication will be discussed to understand how the Commission intends to revolutionize the textile industry.

Webinar #5 - F-Gases Initiative

on 1 June 2022, 15.00 - 16.00 CEST

In this webinar, we will present an overview of the Commission’s proposal for a new F-Gas Regulation and what to expect from the different measures proposed. We will also address how this proposal is linked to the upcoming PFAS restriction, which also impacts fluorinated gases. Finally, the session will investigate and compare the technical profiles of the different f-gases used, with a focus on refrigerants.
